The Pat Kracker Breast Cancer Fund recently donated 9,680 items valued over $125,000 to four Richland County medical providers to distribute to their breast cancer patients and survivors.
“Indiana-based Vision for Christ Missions had received a large donation of sunscreen, cosmetics, and hair care products from a local church and contacted us to see if their donation could help the Pat Kracker Fund fight breast cancer in Richland County,” says Rhonda Breit, Chairperson of the Pat Kracker Breast Cancer Fund. “We said yes.”
The Pat Kracker Breast Cancer Fund was established in memory of Pat Kracker, a Richland County resident who lost her battle with breast cancer on her 61st birthday. The Fund encourages early breast cancer detection and provides financial support to Richland County residents who are stricken with breast cancer.
“Breast cancer patients endure a difficult journey that affects their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. This unique donation will help them with their self-esteem during their personal fight and this challenging time period,” says Rhonda.
The items were transported from Indiana to Am Vets Post 31 in Ontario where volunteers unloaded and sorted thousands of items into individual ‘blessing bags’ for distribution.
The bags were then boxed and delivered to the local Cleveland Clinic, Ohio Health, Avita, and Women’s Care for their distribution. A special delivery of child sunscreen was delivered to the local Akron’s Children Hospital.
“We are grateful to all the volunteers and organizations who helped in this donation,” says Rhonda.
