Two local Richland County golf venues rallied once again in August to help the Pat Kracker Breast Cancer Fund. 144 golfers gathered at Westbrook Country Club and Forest Hills Golf Course to fight breast cancer in Richland County.
For Westbrook it was their 8th consecutive rally year and for Forest Hills Golf Course it was their 23rd consecutive rally year.
“It is so wonderful that Westbrook and Forest Hills have continued to support our cause for so long,” says Rhonda Breit, Chairperson of the Pat Kracker Breast Cancer Fund.
The Pat Kracker Breast Cancer Fund was established in memory of Pat Kracker, a Richland County resident who lost her battle with breast cancer on her 61st birthday. The Fund provides financial support to Richland County residents in multiple ways before breast cancer strikes and if breast cancer strikes.
“Westbrook Country Club is again honored to help in the great work the Pat Kracker fund is accomplishing in Richland County,” says Patina Nabors, a breast cancer survivor and organizer of the Westbrook event. “Westbrook would like to thank our major sponsors for their help in this event – Mansfield Motor Group, Wappner Funeral Home, Mr. and Mrs. Rand Smith, and Mr. and Mrs. Chuck McCartney.”
“We had a gully-washer come through our afternoon rounds,” laughed Kelley Litzinger, Forest Hills event organizer. “A lot of golfers got soaked, but they finished their round.”
“It is people like Patina, Kelley, and Forest Hills owners, Renee and John Neron that tee it up to fight this terrible disease,” says Rhonda. “Golf is great fun and a great way to make a difference here in Richland County.”
