Rhonda Breit, Co-Chairperson of the Pat Kracker Breast Cancer Fund, was recently honored at Ohio Health’s Hero of Hope Ceremony, recognizing outstanding caregivers who demonstrate compassion, love, and hope for oncology patients.
“Rhonda’s story stood out among all our regional nominations,” said Tina Bourdette, Hero of Hope Ceremony organizer.
“Rhonda is a visible comfort to those undergoing chemotherapy and testing, offering love and compassion and encouraging patients and survivors that there is always hope,” said Anne Looney, the Ohio Health employee who nominated Rhonda.
Rhonda is Co-Chairperson of the Pat Kracker Breast Cancer Fund. The fund was established in memory of Pat Kracker, a Richland County resident who lost her battle with breast cancer on her 61st birthday. The fund provides financial support to Richland County residents stricken with this deadly disease.
“I am honored and humbled to have received this award among others whose entire lives are dedicated to serving patients. I don’t feel I’ve done anything phenomenal, but have rather done what I needed to do to survive and establish a new normal as a survivor myself. I consider it a privilege to be able to serve breast cancer patients by offering assistance and making their journey easier in whatever way I can. Many have been through much more than I have; so I see them as my heroes,” said Rhonda upon receiving the award.
